The Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Missing and Exploited Children and Adults serves
as a resource for both law enforcement and families in investigating cases involving
missing and abducted children and adults. The Wisconsin Clearinghouse works in conjunction
with the National Center for Missing and
Exploited Children, and forms part of a nationwide network that works to reunite
missing and abducted children and adults with their families.
The Clearinghouse also participates in Wisconsin's
Amber Alert Plan in
an effort to enhance law enforcement's ability to respond effectively and efficiently
when a child has been abducted in the hope of preventing the victimization of children
in Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Amber Alert Plan is a collaborative effort between the
Department of Justice, the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, Wisconsin Public
Radio, the Dane County Public Safety Communication Center, the Wisconsin Educational
Communications Board, the Department of Transportation, the Wisconsin State Emergency
Communications System, and local law enforcement agencies.
